Jetty Pathway Project

Jetty Path Tentative Plan

In 2009, ownership of South Jetty Park was transferred from Coos County ot the City of Bandon. Subsequently, the City's Parks Master Plan was amended to include this park and the Parks & Recreation Commission, in partnership with the Planning and Public Works Departments, have been working diligently ever since to develop plans for new facilities. One of those facilities was creating a pathway that connects First Street SW in Old Town, out to the Jetty. This was also planned for the the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities Map.

Edison Avenue SW

In 2018, the City contracted with the Dyer Partnership to develop three alternatives for path construction to review safety, cost, and ease to construct. Due to cost, preliminary engineering plans were only developed for the section of Edison Ave SW, connecting the existing sidewalk on First Street with Jetty Road. This project is identified in the City's Urban Renewal Area 1 Plan, and $325,000 has been set aside in the 2020-2021 City of Bandon Annual Budget.

In 2020, the City applied for, and recieved, $100,000 in Small City Allotment funds, from the Oregon Department of Transportation, to support this project.

Construction of this project began in mid-August 2024 and is expected to continue through the end of October.
